Mindful March - building strong foundations

What a transformation sunshine can bring - everyone seems that bit lighter, brighter and more hopeful.

As we look ahead to the rest of the year, it's so easy for the dreams and hopes of summer to lead us to wish away the days and rush through Spring. I don't know about you but I'm feeling such a mix of excitement and optimism during this transitional period, for the opportunity to see family and friends, yet also whispers of anxiety at the prospect of a busy social and work calendar. We have been through such upheaval in the last year that it is perfectly normal to need time to adjust, and by taking this time to look after ourselves, we can work to avoid overwhelm and illness at a later date.

“Where flowers bloom so does hope.” ― Lady Bird Johnson

For this reason, I won't speak about energising and awakening for Spring. Instead I'm taking this time to move slowly, not pausing or stopping, just not rushing either. Winter took its toll and as much as Spring and Summer are rejuvenating and exciting, I encourage you to join me in taking this month to reboot, rebuild foundations and take it one step at a time. Taking the opportunity to enjoy the wonders of Spring in its own right, the new starts and new buds it brings.

With that in mind, my classes this month will continue to be fluid and dynamic but movement will be slow and controlled - excellent for building strength and flexibility. If you're a beginner to yoga then this time can be great for familiarising yourself with the poses and transitions, and if you're an experienced yogi there is so much to gain from slowing down your movements and focussing on the mind-body connection.

My classes continue to run through the Better Body Club and are live on Zoom, to join from the comfort of your home. There are a number of different payment options from pay as you go, blocks of 5 and monthly membership to include all my classes, as well as a variety of classes from different teachers. You will need to complete a one-time registration with the MindBody app but then you're good to go.

Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions, and remember that if you are unable to join live classes at the moment, I have a number of free classes on YouTube as well as some pre-recorded classes available to purchase. But regardless, don't beat yourself up if you're struggling to get on the mat at the moment. If you can get outside for a walk and some fresh air, or find 5 minutes to focus on slow even breathing, then starting with small steps can make a huge difference.

Sending so much love, health and happiness to you,
